Ruby

When we adopted Ruby at two years old, she was sweet and full of spunk, but also timid and anxious. She would have accidents whenever people came over, when we came home, and even when we asked her to get off the bed. She was scared of a collar and we could only walk her on a harness. Walks were always stressful—she barked, lunged, and did flips when she saw other dogs, to the point people made comments about her behavior, and we started avoiding walking past dogs whenever possible. We knew we needed help to build her confidence.

We started with the Beginner program at Canine Academy and quickly saw Ruby’s confidence grow, so we continued into Intermediate and then Off-Leash Program. I’m usually the saver in the relationship, but my husband said he’d never seen me so excited to spend money. I just knew it would be worth it—and I was right. The Off-Leash Program makes all the difference!

Today, Ruby is a more confident, well-behaved dog who still has all the spunk and silliness we love. We can walk past barking dogs without a reaction, invite friends over without her having accidents, and enjoy daily walks together. She’s so much more relaxed meeting new people and dogs, and we don’t have to be anxious wondering how she’ll react to someone new. Boarding at Canine Academy was also a lifesaver—we were able to travel knowing she was safe, cared for, and continuing her training.

The whole team has been amazing, and Sam in particular has been incredible with Ruby. They always respond quickly to questions and give us clear, helpful guidance. We are so grateful to Canine Academy and are excited to continue Ruby’s training through additional day training and group outings. Ruby is perfect—she just needed the right team (and some training for us, too!). We couldn’t recommend them enough!

Thank you, Canine Academy
